| The Artist is still running away with the all the Oscar buzz. Since its very first preview the critics have been predicting its sweep come Academy Awards time. It has everything going for it: love from critics, PGA, SAG and DGA nominations, and it even won three Golden Globes. As a nostalgic love letter to the movies–and a comic/tragic/romance–it has everything a Academy member could love, and will grab more Oscar nominations than any other film. | ||||||||
| We’re even going to be treated to a good show since our old buddy Billy Crystal is hosting. Learn more about Oscar history and their hosts here. Crystal has hosted the awards show in 1990–1993, 1997, 1998, 2000, and 2004. Thank god Eddie Murphy pulled out this year. It would have been mildly interesting to see Eddie do stand up after all these years but it’s a lot safer bet that we’ll be entertained by Billy. | ||||||||

| I’m only going to attempt a prediction on the Best Picture category this year. I think that’ll be hard enough. I’d like to see Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory be nominated in this category, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I also thought for a while that Tree of Life might make the list, but I think the nod will go to Moneyball instead. I do think there is a possibility that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo might make it in which would be very surprising. But ultimately I think this is going to be the list. If I were going to pick a winner out of this list I think we can all agree it would be The Artist. However I’ll make my entire prediction of the winners with the nominations come out on Tuesday. | ||||||||
